What is Halloween Jeopardy?
Halloween Jeopardy is a twist on America’s favorite television quiz show Jeopardy.
Instead of your typical trivia night, this game flips things around, players are given clues and must buzz in to guess the answer.
The game board is divided into distinct categories, and each question carries a specific dollar value depending on its difficulty. The higher the value, the tougher the question!
- The most interesting part of Jeopardy is that answer must be framed in form of a question, for example – This holiday is celebrated on 31st of October – The answer would be – What is Halloween?
Rules for Playing Halloween Jeopardy

Setting up this game is simple. Follow these quick steps to get your game up and running:
1.Set Up Your Board: Display your categories and dollar amounts for each category on a wall, a whiteboard, or a screen.
2. Appoint a Host who will also be the Scorekeeper.
3. Split your players into teams or play individually.
4.The first team picks a category and a dollar amount (e.g., “Monsters’ for $400”).
5. The Host reads the clue out loud to everyone.
6. Buzz and Answer: The first team to buzz in gets a chance to answer.
- Crucial Rule: The answer must be phrased as a question.
- Correct Answer: The team gets the dollar amount added to their score and picks the next clue.
- Incorrect Answer (or forgetting to phrase it as a question): The team loses that dollar amount from their score, and the other teams have a chance to steal!
7. Declare the Winner: Once all the clues on the board have been cleared, the team with the highest point total wins the game as the ultimate Pumpkin King or Queen!
- Host Tip: If you are playing with very young kids, feel free to waive the “points deduction” rule for wrong answers to keep things light, encouraging, and fun!

Play a Final Jeopardy Round (Optional)
When the main board is completely cleared, it’s time for Final Jeopardy. This is where trailing teams can make a massive comeback, and leading teams have to play it smart!
The Wagering Rules
- Check the Scores: Before the final clue is revealed, the Host announces total points for each team.
- Write the Wagers: Every team secretly writes down how many of their current points they want to risk (they can wager anywhere from 0 points up to their total score).
- Elimination: Teams with zero or negative points are unfortunately eliminated from this final round.
- The Reveal: Once all wagers are written down and handed to the Host, the final clue is read aloud. Teams have 60 seconds to secretly write down their final answer (and yes, it still needs to be in the form of a question!).
- The Scoring: If a team answers correctly, they add their wagered points to their total score. If they are incorrect, those points are subtracted. The team with the highest final score wins it all!

The Clue: According to data from the National Retail Federation, this specific clothing item consistently ranks as the number one most popular Halloween costume for family pets every single year.
- The Answer: What is a pumpkin?
