Enjoy a Special Easter Breakfast
Holiday meals are really just an excuse to get everyone in the same room.
Start your Easter morning with a special breakfast before the egg hunts and games begin.
Delicious foods like a stack of pancakes shaped like bunnies, a make-ahead casserole, or a sweet Easter bread can really energise your family for the day’s activities.
Here are 10 simple Easter breakfast recipes you might enjoy.
2. Host a Backyard Easter Egg Hunt

If there’s one Easter tradition I never skip, it’s a backyard egg hunt.
Little kids running around with oversized baskets, squealing every time they spot a bright egg in the grass. It’s chaotic and I love it.
If you don’t have huge yard, you can easily conduct an indoor Easter egg hunt.
Hiding eggs around the living room also works beautifully if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
For toddlers, I keep the eggs in easy-to-spot places so they feel successful.
For older kids, who usually love a good challenge, I tuck them behind flower pots or under patio chairs.
Some useful egg hunting tips:
- I assign each child a color so there are no arguments.
- I always hide one golden egg with a slightly bigger surprise.
- Sometimes I add a clue inside the last egg that leads to their Easter basket.

Create Simple Easter Baskets

Easter morning baskets are one of my favorite parts of the holiday. I love setting them out the night before.
I’ve also this year consciously searched for non-candy Easter egg fillers for my baskets and even egg hunts because the sugar rush is scary and honestly Easter baskets don’t need to be overflowing with candy.
I also, usually stick to a small formula:
- One sweet treat like a marshmallow bunny pack or favorite candy.
- One Easter-themed book, like How to Catch the Easter Bunny
- One fun spring item like sidewalk chalk, play foam, or a small stuffed bunny
- Sometimes a printable activity or coloring set to keep them busy later in the day

Dressing up in spring outfits and heading to church together can become a meaningful annual ritual children grow up expecting.
Attend a Local Easter Parade
Attending a local Easter parade is a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday as a community.
Many towns host spring parades featuring decorated floats, marching bands and costumed characters.
For children, it’s especially exciting to see the Easter Bunny in person and collect small treats along the parade route.
Even if your town doesn’t host a large parade, local churches, schools, or community centers often organize smaller spring events that feel just as festive.
Finally, Tips for Making Easter Traditions Stress-Free
Holidays can quickly turn into pressure if we’re not careful. So here are a few ways to keep Easter simple and joyful:
1. Choose 2–3 Traditions to Focus On: You don’t have to do all 11 traditions shared in this list. Pick a few that fit your family’s season of life.
2. Prep the Night Before: Fill eggs, set out baskets, lay out outfits, and prep what you can ahead of time. Easter morning feels much calmer when you’re not scrambling.
3. Keep Expectations Realistic: Crafts might get messy. Cupcakes might not look Pinterest-perfect. Kids might lose interest halfway through decorating eggs and that’s okay.
4. Use Time-Saving Shortcuts: Store-bought desserts, printable activities, pre-filled eggs, these are smart ways to protect your energy so you can actually enjoy the day.
